Screen resolution

I am playing on a monitor that supports 3840x2160 resolution. when I set it to that resolution, I can't click any buttons, and the log in screen is massively offset from center.

What resolution is best for playing full screen?

I have searched, and either the links in the threads are no longer working, or the solutions don't seem to make sense. Mostly I saw, " you are trying to use a resolution your monitor doesn't support", but that's not the case here.

Any help would be appreciated.

The game wasn't designed for anything beyond 1080p.
At this point is a trial an error according to your monitor's acpect ratio and resolution.
