Logging out during trade run

I'm a thief and I've noticed lately that whenever traders encounter a thief they just DC instead of putting up a fight, they then log back on a few hours later once checking the area is clear. Is it possible to disable disconnects while a player has goods? Or make them drop when a player disconnects? Now that all players know to do this it's impossible to progress as a thief.

Is it because you as a thief do not look for your own merchandise? If not, what do you put low chars in the buyers of special traders?
